The BCN3D Sigma R19 is a professional dual extruder 3D printer is BCN3D’s latest version of it’s acclaimed Sigma series. The Sigma now features e3D optimised hotends, hardened steel BondTech drive gears in the extruder, a filament run out sensor and improved z-axis stability.
NOTE: There are currently quite long lead times on these printers – Approx Early July
The BCN3D Sigma is built with an innovative independent dual extruder system so you can print with two different materials, or in two different colours, whilst maintaining a high quality surface finish. The idle printhead in this dual extruder 3D printer remains parked to stop it from dripping molten filament onto your 3D print.
Buying a dual extrusion 3d printer is not just about printing attractive two tone prints, where it comes into its own is when you combine two different materials in one print. This is especially true when you make use of a soluble support filament like HIPS (for ABS) or a water soluble PVA filament. If you use a soluble support filament as infill this allows you to make very complex parts that would not be possible with a single extruder 3D printer. A dual extruder 3D printer therefore opens up the possibility for 3D printing functional parts.
Avoid geometric limitations and print the most challenging parts thanks to soluble supports.

The Sigma R19 sees a number of hardware updates to improve performance and capabilities. The Sigma employs the IDEX replaceable hotend system. The new hotends have been optimised by e3D and are powered by Bondtech extruders. BCN3D partnered with e3D to utilise their know how in the design and development of high performance hotends to produce the range of sigma e3D hotends. The new e3D hotends are also backward compatible with the previous version of the Sigma. With the Sigma full metal hotends you can print any material you need to fit your requirements, from common PLA to the most advanced technical plastics like Nylon or PC, independent of the filament manufacturer.
IDEX swappable Hotends
The IDEX system uses a series of swappable hotends with different nozzle diameters and nozzle characteristics. This means you can select the right hotend for the job, saving both time and money, making your 3D printing workflow more efficient. For example you can print your perimeters with a 0.3mm hotend and the infill with a 0.8mm hotend, or, print your model with 0.8mm and detailed PVA supports with 0.4mm. Print up to three times faster without giving up quality: finer outlines and coarser infills.
BCN3D Sigma IDEX hotends come in:
0.5mm - Hardened Stainless Steel, ideal for carbon fibre filament like ColorFabb XT CF-20
BCN3D hotends are available as either the Idex Hotend Family Pack or buy your BCNozzle Hotend separately. Or follow the link for a full listing of our BCN3D 3D printer products.
Multiple printing modes for improved work flow
The sigma software also allows for Mirror and duplication mode printing for faster production of multiple versions of the same model or printing symmetrical sides of a composite model, left and right versions.
Improved extruder performance
The Extruder drive system features BondTech dual drive technology to give greater control and superior performance of the extrusion process. The extruder is made with a aluminum CNC machined body and hardened steel drive gears powered by Bondtech. It provides an incredible grip thanks to its high-tech dual drive gears that have proved to be the best feeding extrusion system, getting rid of grinding issues, no matter the filament used.
The Sigma also features a filament run out sensor to helping you manage your printing.
The Sigma has a top grade build quality. The z-axis stage is now built with a CNC machined aluminum block to improve z-axis stability. The new z-axis stage moves the platform smoother, reducing vibrations and so improving z-axis extrusion consistency. The Sigma also boasts a cooling system that gives high performance whilst drastically reducing the operating sound.
With the BCN3D Sigma full colour touchscreen you get an attractive and intuitive interface that is fully equipped with advanced features that guides the user step by step.
As an Open Source project, we share all the designs, manufacturing processes and quality protocols with the Community to speed up the evolution of 3D Printing.
But, don’t just take our word for it. The BCN3D Sigma R17 made it to the “Best of Workhorse 3D Printers” in the 3D Hubs 2017 3D Printer Guide, based on more than 8000 reviews from 3D Printer owners: a huge recognition among more than 500 competitors.
